‘kay, so Castle Carlin probably isn’t named after the comedian, but to make up for that, it’s super cool. I especially love the great wall texture and Tudor section (not that half timbered additions on castle are uncommon, just that it’s well done). Landscaping’s pretty good, too.

A deep sea exploration suit; SubApoc.

pyreƒyre brings us yet another beautiful hardsuit, this time, for the ocean blue. This is the most recent of his hardsuit’s and is certainly excellent. I find myself thinking it hard to believe that some people can get their suits so complicated. I would easily rank this suit equal to that of Tim Z.’s or Chucks.

I had to start blogging again just for this.

Erdbeereis1 ventures back into the realm of town vignettes after having recently brought us some beautiful spaceships.

He says:
“Let’s take a walk along the river.
I built this mainly to try out this water idea, which I’ll use in much larger scale in a future MOC hopefully.”

What sold me on this creation was the arches and the water just below them. I could never seem to find a use for that particular piece, but now, since other people do my work for me, everything is well. While this MOC is generally fairly simple, I can see some complicated places which required some different pieces. All in all, it’s a great creation. I look forward to seeing the larger creation this will become!

Red Faction: Guerrilla

I gotta say, this little dune buggy by Crimson Wolf- based on a vehicle from Red Faction: Guerrilla- is pretty flippin’ awesome, but it’s the Martian backdrop that completes the scene. A good MOC is always furthered by good presentation, and this counts for both.

Of course, the buggy itself is the main thing here, and a nice buggy it is!

Here is something I think should be blogged. Mdrn~Mrvls’, who is usually a strong vehicle builder, now brings us this “Office Building and 30s Car”. Of course, it does have a well built vehicle in it.

This creation comes from a series of vehicles that Mdrn is building stretching from a fire engine to a dump truck.

This hæs got to be the lærgest LEGO work ever constructed by fellow blogger Peder Peter (who also displayed it at BrickWorld). Allegedly drawing an archaic etymology from the Old English for “Flat Field”, the fortress is aptly named. Additionally, the architecture is rather aesthetically pleasing and appears to be an attempt to emulate the Norman style that became popular in England after the year 1070 AD. The light gray curves and bends are beautifully fluid, but also note the Tudor style second floor and the wooden stables that break up the otherwise contiguous gray walls rather well.

Also, there’s viking-Aunt-May-archers!

BrickWorld 2009 was for the most part, a great success. The real highlight was the Micropolis, and the Space display, for me. Space has died ever since Brickfest ‘06, however, this year, Starfighters and SHIP’s ruled the half the tables of AMCP display. Castle was a little disappointing this year, but it was still cool since Peter brought along his castle. The vendors were expensive as usual. This year, there were not as many trains, which is a good thing and a bad thing for many people. All in all, a great convention with a staggering 556 attendees. 

^That wasn’t even all of the SHIP’s. There were two more.

Now, all we have to do is start preparing for BrickWorld 2010. Next year, we have the whole hotel.
