BrickWorld 2009 was for the most part, a great success. The real highlight was the Micropolis, and the Space display, for me. Space has died ever since Brickfest ’06, however, this year, Starfighters and SHIP’s ruled the half the tables of AMCP display. Castle was a little disappointing this year, but it was still cool since Peter brought along his castle. The vendors were expensive as usual. This year, there were not as many trains, which is a good thing and a bad thing for many people. All in all, a great convention with a staggering 556 attendees.

^That wasn’t even all of the SHIP’s. There were two more.

Some Towers by Adam Tucker

Now, all we have to do is start preparing for BrickWorld 2010. Next year, we have the whole hotel.

Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

I really love this. Named after the hit swing-style tune, Sir Nadroj has delivered a gracefully rendered atmosphere fluently emphasizing Turkish architectural vernacular as well as a touch of cultural heritage with use of the Indian printed elements from the Orient Expedition product line. Although I slightly miss the ogee style arches so commonly associated with Byzantine design, I particularly fancy the fountain as both a realistically and aesthetically fitting facet to an overall beautiful scene (even despite the fact that Jordan has only built it and thrown it on flickr to boast the fact that he’s got his hands a certain piece earlier than most other people have. But hey, as a common follower of his work, that is something to which I have grown accustomed. This time he even admitted it. Ha!)

L.D.M (Lt. De Martinet) is a very talented builder who recently showed us his newest Space Creation. The fantastic greebling, the creation shape of the wings…

There are not enough words to describe how well built this creation is.

This is the beginning of the Teen LUG BrickWorld Teen display. In the moonbase section of BrickWorld this year, four Teen Lego builders are going to spell out the acronym, TFOL. This is the F in TFOL, and I must say. This is a good start. I don’t know if my module will equal up to this. L.D.M is one of Teen Lego’s most talented builders. I can’t wait to meet him at Brickworld.

Red & Blue Quads

Would it be too presumptuous to call Pitrek a teenaged mijasper? These excellent quads (not to mention his bike from a while back) certainly show the same talent for small, brilliant part connections.

Preparing to Breach

Originally uploaded by scōtt blānk

Flickr user scōtt blānk is a master of tiny, impeccably detailed military vignettes, and this one, “Preparing to Breach” does not disappoint. The best vignettes are the ones that have emotional qualities, and I love the air of barely contained tension this vignette conveys, with the soldier waiting in anticipation as the ticking time-bomb gets closer and closer to exploding.

Scott’s skill with details shows through with elements like the broken window glass and the beautifully simple generator.

Can you tell I like saying ‘awesome’? And more importantly, can you tell I like this thing?

Because I do.

HAAV-81 Jet Mode

Ursprünglich hochgeladen von Pyreƒyre

Pyreƒyre made a mecha that turns into a jet!

(It’s also a jet that turns into a mecha)

What’s cool is that it looks great while in both modes. Okay, and it transforms. That’s pretty cool, too.

Despite the less than stellar photo, I couldn’t help blogging this awesome drone by Neaku/Draco Cyanopterus. Check out the sweet greebles and colours scheme. Dark tan!
