Its Been a While December 3, 2009

As with most Teenage Lego Builders, school takes up a good portion of life. Certainly, I am no exception. It seems that a mix of schoolwork, homework, music, sports, and just normal social activities have kept me busy and away from a hobby I love. Recently, I have tried to get back with the community.
Well, lets kick it off with a new creation from our very own Zack Milenius(Newright).
As usual, Newright brings us a well crafted, detailed, beautifully executed, large pirate themed layout. The Reconstruction of Fort Oswald is a great little (large) creation, and has some great features, not to mention a large ship of the line entering the harbor. He brings in some SNOT techniques with the smooth water, and some cliff construction techniques with the rocks on the left-hand side.
As usual, great job Zack. Now, perhaps we can get you back on track with your SHIP.

BrickWorld 2009 was for the most part, a great success. The real highlight was the Micropolis, and the Space display, for me. Space has died ever since Brickfest ’06, however, this year, Starfighters and SHIP’s ruled the half the tables of AMCP display. Castle was a little disappointing this year, but it was still cool since Peter brought along his castle. The vendors were expensive as usual. This year, there were not as many trains, which is a good thing and a bad thing for many people. All in all, a great convention with a staggering 556 attendees.
^That wasn’t even all of the SHIP’s. There were two more.
Now, all we have to do is start preparing for BrickWorld 2010. Next year, we have the whole hotel.

Philip Stark AKA ErdBeereis1 has built this amazing creation, and well, there isn’t much to say about it that it doesn’t already say for itself.

Apologies for the title…
SlyOwl’s latest diorama is packed with details as usual, but what really caught my eye is the base. Brilliant.

I’m not sure what I find so appealing about this MOC (which was admittedly posted a while ago), but it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Almost like I just ate a kitten.

They came. They saw. They were awesome.
Be sure to check out the generals and heavy soldiers, too.
Actually, as long as you’re here you should check out his hilariously anachronistic Imperial Shock Troopers.

Pirate ship “Little Marie” January 30, 2009

Behold this fine vessel created by The Lego Dude.
Even though it’s not the biggest ship in the world, I love it.
From the creator:
“Don’t let the “Little Marie’s” size fool you, this little ship can pack a punch.
She spends most of her time lurking outside of ports in the Caribbean waiting for unsuspecting merchantmen to sail into her path. Where she then plunders and burns!”

There have been complaints that this ship it too short. I completely disagree. I think this is a perfect ship. I love the masts, sails, and the rigging. I also love the diorama it was put it. Whaling was quite the dangerous, long and smelly job.

This fantastic diorama by exotrator caught my eye like a hook catches a fish. Actually a continuation of a much smaller WIP (also on this blog), it was revitalized for the Pillage The Village contest. It has lots of amazing details and action, the roofs are especially nice IMO.
